1. Explain the process you went through to develop your drawing.

First I traced the darkest parts of the picture onto tracing paper. Next I heavily colored the back of the tracing paper and layed it down on my sketch book. Then I retraced the lines I had done earlier and it appeared on my sketch book. After that i filled in where i missed a couple of important details. Finally I started to shade the picture using the mini value chart I had.

2. Explain how you found the different values in the portrait?

I held up my mini value chart to the photo and matched the shades of the picture to the shades of the value chart. Then i looked at the shadows to see and find the darkest places.

3. Did you achieve a full range of the different values within your portrait? How?

I dont think i did the best on this piece and the values are probably the reason why. i was either too light or too dark.

4. Describe your craftsmanship. Is the artwork executed and crafted neatly?

I personally think my self portrait isn’t that good. It is neat in most parts but i messed up the mouth pretty bad.

5. List any obstacles you had to overcome and how you dealt with them.
I had to over come the shading and shading the grays in the middle and not just the light and dark ones.

1. Describe the process you went through to change your object into the correct perspective to create the drawing. This is when you were in the lab.
We found a picture and then took it into photo shop and streached it. And after a little work it looked like this.

2. How did distorting and stretching the object allow for you to create a drawing that would look different to the viewer?

It makes the picture look like it is standing up straight on the page. We made the top taller and wider so it looks like it is standing up.

3. What were the most important concepts in the project to make it successful?

To make it look real and good we had to be sure to make the edges and shadow look real and dark. Also we had to do a good job on photo shop and streach it good.

1. Explain how you changed your photo in the lab to create a stencil.

To change my photo from the computer to get it into a stencil was a lot of work. We had to project it on a piece of paper on the wall. Then we had to trace the shape and make sure the projector didnt move the whole time. Then we took a xacto knife and cut out places where we wanted to be spray painted.

2. When creating the collage background explain your choices of colors, materials (magazine paper, books pages, etc), and placement. How does it relate to your topic? If no relation discuss general idea.

When I was looking for pictures to make my background, I was looking for the craziest and coolest pictures that I could find. I didnt really have a topic that I was trying to relate to so I just found the best pictures that I could.
3. Discuss the way positive and negative space was used to create your stencil.

My punch-buggy was Herby the love bug from the movie. In the movie he is white so I wanted to spray paint him white. My background was red so the white spray paint really stood out and poped!
4. When using the xacto knife, explain the safety procedures, how to use the knife and any challenges you had to overcome while cutting.

When I used the xatco knife it was easy but challenging at the same time. It was hard on the curves and on the short pieces because it would jerk. It was hard to control at some points but was easy after I got the hang of it.
5. How was your experience with the spray paint? Discuss how color choice is important, placement of stencil, and any other concepts you noticed while creating this.

The spray painting was the easiest part of this project but it was also the most important. I picked white to really stand out on the red and it worked. Also we had to tape a few pieces down so it wouldnt move when I spray painted.
